Ambulances are only for patients who are unable to make their own way to hospital appointments because of illness or injury.
If you require an ambulance please ring the booking line on (0191) 383 5383, at least two working days before your hospital appointment and this will be arranged for you.
Our practice nurses see all patients with asthma on a yearly basis. You can contact the surgery to make an appointment yourself or we will send you a letter asking you to make an appointment when your review is due. They advise patients on managing their condition and also check inhaler technique.
Coronary Heart Disease Clinic
This is run by a nurse trained in coronary heart disease and is by appointment only. You will be sent an appointment when you are due for review.
These clinics are run by our practice nurse. They are for annual reviews and 6 monthly followup and are by appointment only. The chiropodist attends the surgery clinic every week on a Thursday morning to carry out diabetic foot checks.
Cervical smears are carried out by our practice nurses. Please make an appointment at reception and inform the receptionist what the appointment is for. Advice on breast examination can also be given.
Dr Gayer, Dr Young, Dr Wood and Dr Hardman carry out minor surgical operations at the surgery. Your own doctor will tell you how to arrange this if necessary.
Run by the Practice Nurse, these clinics are on a Wednesday. You will be notified when your child’s injections are due and will be given a clinic date and time for the immunisation. We strongly recommend that your child be immunised, unless the doctors advise otherwise.
Child Health Surveillance Clinic
This is held in the surgery on a Friday morning between 10:30am and 11.30am. The doctor will carry out development and general health checks. Your baby will also receive their 1st immunisations in this clinic. You will automatically be sent a clinic appointment.
All doctors, advanced nurse practitioners and some practice nurses offer family planning adivce during normal surgery hours.
Some services are not covered under the NHS and therefore a fee has to be paid i.e. taxi medicals, holiday cancellation forms. Forms can be left at reception for the Doctor to complete and take approximately 7 working days. A list of fees is displayed in the waiting room.
Medical examinations must be booked in advance at reception. You will be given a 30 minute appointment when the doctor is available. The appropriate fee must be paid when you attend. If you fail to attend a pre-booked medical examination you will be billed for half the normal fee.
